WikiJava:ExamplesFrom WikiJavaThere is no need to worry about accidentally damaging WikiJava when adding or improving information, as other editors are always around to advise or correct obvious errors, and WikiJava's software, known as wikipedia:MediaWiki, is carefully designed to allow easy reversal of editorial mistakes. Because WikiJava is an ongoing work to which, in principle, anybody can contribute, it differs from a paper-based reference source in important ways. In particular, older articles tend to be more comprehensive and balanced, while newer articles more frequently contain significant misinformation, or vandalism. Users need to be aware of this to obtain valid information and avoid misinformation that has been recently added and not yet removed. However, unlike a paper reference source, WikiJava is continually updated, with the creation or updating of articles within seconds, minutes or hours, rather than months or years for printed books. Learning process is usually a hard process, but it is always a worthy investment. Programming, according to Donald Knuth, is an art that produces beautiful things. As programmers, we know that sometimes our product is not as good as we would like. Time, usually, is against us. WikiJava wants to use the natural evolution of the sources through the collaboration between programmers and users. The single most important aspect of the entire WikiJava site is the example. The easiest way to learn a programming language is by examples. Short, easy to learn examples, usually called snippets of code. Try to keep them simple, straight to the point, and remember to follow the rules: you could only write in this site code that you own, or code you have the rights to publish and edit. Happy learning! |
