This page explains how to create a new tutorial.

General information

A tutorial in WikiJava is an article containing step by step instructions on how to do something.

Tutorials will have the following characteristics:

  • A presentation of content, usually with an example or examples, often broken up into discrete modules or sections.
  • Some method of review that reinforces or tests understanding of the content in the related module or section.
  • A transition to additional modules or sections that builds on the instructions already provided. Tutorials can be linear or branching.

WikiJava offers a Form that helps you in giving a proper format to your tutorial page. This will automatically set the proper syntaxes for the keywords and categories so that your article will be immediately published and easy to find through the internal search engine.

Read the contribution form help page for more details.

Article names

Particular attention must be paid to the choice of the names for the articles.

There is not specific rule on how to chose the article title for a tutorial, but you should try to be concise and to choose a title that will let the readers immediately understand what is the tutorial about. It's suggested to include the word tutorial in the title of the article.

Examples:

Compiling and executing HelloWorld tutorial
Installing Eclipse tutorial
Installing Mysql
Persistence with Mysql tutorial
